Parenting Comes Naturally, or Does It
As a young 19 year old mother, parenting came naturally to me … until I started to listen to everyone else. Everyone had a point of view about how a parent should be. How to get it right. How to avoid being wrong. And amongst a litany of judgment, I checked out all the parenting books just to be sure, and before I knew it, I was I was doing everything I could to be the perfect mum and avoid being a bad mum.
I read the books and followed the rules that told me how to get my kids to be good and fit in so that I could avoid being a bad parent. Thankfully I didn’t totally give up on MY knowing and somewhere I knew that trusting me and what I know would be a contribution to my kids.
Fast forward a number of years and now as a grandparent and with the pragmatic tools of Access Consciousness on board, I can acknowledge what a gift trusting Me and my knowing is.
I get to empower my grand kids by asking them questions and asking what they know and not expecting them to take on my points of view. I let them know that they have choice and I let them choose so that they know what their choices will create. That it isn’t about the right and wrong and good and bad, but that it’s just about choosing and creating their life.
So what do you KNOW about being a parent ?
